New partnership announced: Paralympics New Zealand and Revbox NZ Ltd

Paralympics New Zealand and Revbox NZ Ltd

Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) and leading training erg brand, Revbox New Zealand Limited are delighted to announce a new partnership. Revbox are responsible for the engineering and supply of Revbox Ergs – a training unit for cyclists that stimulates specific muscular, aerobic, and anaerobic adaptations to improve key areas of an athlete’s performance –  and the new partnership will see the New Zealand Para cycling campaign supplied with these ergs for use during training and preparation for competition.

Revbox Managing Director, Philipp Schacht describes how Revbox are really excited to be involved with Paralympics New Zealand and helping to achieve the best results possible for their Para athletes. “This is a huge endorsement of the work we have been doing over the last few years and we look forward to building a strong relationship with PNZ for the future“.

The product is relatively new to market but has already been endorsed by several elite athletes and teams around the world, including most notably the Lotto Soudal UCI World Tour Cycling Team. PNZ Para Cycling Head Performance Coach, Stu McDonald believes, “The Revbox erg will be a great training tool for the PNZ Para cycling team as they train towards their Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games dreams. The brand new Revbox Compact is light weight so great to take to international competitions and will be fantastic for our pre-race warm ups as it also still requires the rider to focus on their pedalling technique”.

The PNZ Para cycling campaign is led by Stu McDonald and Rio 2016 and London 2012 Paralympic medallist Laura Thompson. Laura is Paralympic and World Championship gold medallist having been the sighted pilot to both Philippa Gray (London 2012 Paralympic Games) and Emma Foy (Rio 2016 Paralympic Games). She has joined the Para cycling campaign in the role of PNZ Para Cycling National Development Coordinator. Laura is now seeking to develop the programme to ensure New Zealand can take a large and highly competitive squad of Para cyclists to Tokyo 2020. The next major competition for Para cyclists is the New Zealand Road National Championships on 5 May in Cambridge.
