High Performance

Paralympics New Zealand selects and supports athletes and teams to attend international competitions. The core international competitions that are of immense importance to the Paralympics New Zealand High Performance Programme are the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games. More information on the Paralympic Games can be found on our Events page.

In addition, Paralympics New Zealand leads High Performance Training Programmes and Campaigns in the sports of Para-Swimming, Para-Cycling and Para-Shooting, and provides assistance to High Performance Programmes in Para-Athletics, and Adaptive Snow Sports

The information on this page applies mostly to Para-Athletes, Coaches and Staff involved in High Performance Para-Sport Programmes.

Information for High Performance Para-Athletes, Coaches, and Programme Staff

Paralympics New Zealand is committed to having robust and transparent selection and investment criteria. Paralympics New Zealand therefore has implemented overarching selection and investment criteria which are easily understood by coaches and athletes. All these sport specific criteria are evidence based and are key to Paralympics New Zealand’s ultimate goal of having more Para athletes winning on the World stage.

The objective of the Paralympics New Zealand Selection Regulation is to clearly document and make available to all athletes and Sports Organisations of PNZ Managed and Paralympic Games sports the process and selection criteria to be used by PNZ in selecting athletes for major international events.
