Mike Roke, Head of Philanthropy

Role
As Head of Philanthropy, Mike leads on building and nurturing a network of high-net-worth individuals and supporters to advance an inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand through Para Sport.
Mike is responsible for identifying, engaging, and stewarding high-net-worth New Zealanders to support Paralympics New Zealand. This includes connecting donors with Paralympians, Para athletes and key stakeholders, delivering engaging communications, hosting networking events, and creating meaningful experiences that make supporters feel valued and part of the team.
Experience
Grants Advisor, The Lion Foundation (2.5 years): Supported organisations with funding applications and presented 80–90 applications to the board each month. Philanthropy Lead, Auckland City Mission (4 years): Contributed to fundraising efforts totalling nearly $8.5 million to support Aucklanders facing homelessness, food insecurity, and health challenges.

A passionate sports enthusiast, with a particular love for test cricket and rugby league. A loyal NZ Warriors fan. Also enjoy summer BBQs, winter roasts, quiz nights, and 90s hard rock music.
