Marianne currently leads a project called “Collectively Stronger Together” which involves mapping the Para sport landscape across the country to better understand what is (and how it is) being offered to disabled people, their whānau, communities, and stakeholders across the country. Through this exercise, PNZ will collaboratively stage regional community Para sport pilots with NSOs and Parafeds or similar organisations across 3 regions and 3 Para sports in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Marianne also leads a number of agreed shared initiatives that PNZ seeks to develop and implement further with all Parafeds and similar organisations.
Marianne has extensive sporting experience across various capacities and countries, from volunteering at grassroots, competing, coaching, managing and mentoring elite level athletes, to her previous role in a sport administration and leadership capacity. She led the implementation of Waikato Badminton’s renewed strategic plan and its day-to-day operations as Chief Executive. Prior to this, Marianne led the development of Australia’s Para badminton programme and supported major international events in Australia and other sport development initiatives in Asia. Furthermore, she increased national participation and membership levels for Badminton Australia by over 30% within a 3-year period. Previous to her career in sport management, Marianne held corporate sales and management roles with IBM Australia and New Zealand.
