Stuart has previously coached within the structure of Welsh and British Cycling. In 2009, Stuart secured the role of Assistant Mens Endurance Coach with Cycling New Zealand, where he led the U23 track team. During his time with Cycling New Zealand, Stuart also led the Womens sprint team and attended the London 2012 Olympic Games. In Rio 2016, Stuart was the Assistant Para Cycling coach for the New Zealand Paralympic Team before taking up the overall leadership of the national PNZ Para Cycling Programme in early 2017.
As Para Cycling Head Performance Coach, Stuart’s key responsibility is to lead the New Zealand Para Cycling team towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Stuart ensures that PNZ High Performance riders are recipients of high quality coaching, performance planning and support, and leads the team when on international duty. Stuart’s work particularly supports the ‘Medal Winning Performances’ pillar within the PNZ Strategic Plan – Towards 2020.
