Criteria for Membership of Paralympics New Zealand

The Membership of Paralympics New Zealand as outlined in the PNZ Constitution is as follows:

(A) National Sports Organisations (NSOs)

(B) Regional Disability Sports Organisations (RDSOs)

(D) PNZ Order of Merit Members and

Minimum Criteria (Category A-C)

This outlines the minimum criteria for organisations applying for Membership of Paralympics New Zealand (Category A-C).

Prior to completing this form, please ensure you have the following documents prepared ready to attach at the end as part of your application.

The Organisation’s Constitution
Certificate of Incorporation under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and / or Charities Act 2005
Organisational Strategic Plan / Statement of Strategic Direction
Annual Report and Financial Statements (most recent copy)
Letter of endorsement from Chief Executive, President or equivalent

National Sports Organisations (NSO)

In addition to the Minimum Criteria stated above, a Member applying as a National Sports Organisation (NSO) must meet the following criteria and complete the below sections (with supporting evidence):

Be currently affiliated to an International Federation (IF) which has been granted the status as a Paralympic sport by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Your organisations' International Federation(Required)

Supports the development of the Paralympic Movement by providing real and specific Para sport in New Zealand.

Please provide details of how your organisation provides real and specific Para sport. Please provide a broad overview of your Para sport programme and key initiatives aligned to your organisation’s strategy.(Required)

Conduct its activities in compliance with the rules of its International Federation and the International Paralympic Committee.

Please provide confirmation and/or evidence of alignment to your International Federation.(Required)

Please provide confirmation and/or evidence of alignment to the International Paralympic Committee.(Required)

Be recognised by the PNZ Board as the sole national governing body for that Para sport in New Zealand.

Please provide evidence that your organisation is the sole National Governing body for Para sport in New Zealand.(Required)

At a minimum, your organisation has Sport NZ recognition status and is evident via Sport New Zealand.

Regional Disability Sports Organisations (RDSOs)

In addition to the Minimum Criteria stated above, a Member applying as a Regional Disability Sports Organisation (RDSO) must meet the following criteria and complete the below sections (with supporting evidence):

Be a regional organisation which provides for Para sport and/or disability sport in its respective region.

Associate Member

In addition to the Minimum Criteria stated above, a Member applying as an Associate (is not an NSO or RDSO as per Section 5 of the PNZ Constitution) must meet the following criteria and complete the below section (with supporting evidence):

Be recognised by the IPC or is a Para sport related group recognised by the PNZ Board as important to New Zealand.
