When are the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games?

Los Angeles (LA), United States will be hosting its first-ever summer Paralympic Games in 2028. The LA28 Paralympic Games will kick off 15 August 2028, and close 27 August 2028. 

What Para sports will be at the LA28 Paralympic Games?

A record 23 Para sports will be contested at the LA28 Paralympic Games.

Every Para sport on the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games programme will appear, with the exciting addition of Para climbing to the Paralympic Games schedule.

Where will the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games be held?

The LA28 Games will bring Los Angeles together to create an incredible experience for athletes, fans and everyone in the community, using Southern California’s existing world-class stadiums and venues. The Paralympic Games venues are divided into seven zones, including:

  • Exposition Park zone: Para athletics [Track and field], Para badminton, Wheelchair rugby, Closing Ceremony
  • Carson zone: Para cycling – Track, Para archery, Wheelchair Tennis
  • Long Beach zone: Para swimming, Para climbing, Blind football, Shooting Para sport, Sitting Volleyball, Para canoe, Para rowing
  • Venice zone: Para athletics [Marathon], Para triathlon 
  • DTLA zone: Para table tennis, Boccia, Para judo, Para taekwondo, Wheelchair fencing, Goalball, Wheelchair basketball
  • Arcadia zone: Para equestrian 
  • Inglewood zone: Opening Ceremony

Legacy of the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games

Ahead of the Games, LA28 is investing $160 million in youth sports across Los Angeles, making sport more accessible for kids, particularly in under resourced communities.

Los Angeles expects to host more than 15,000 athletes in 2028 as it welcomes Paralympians and Olympians from around the world to compete on the biggest stage in sports.
