Experienced governance leader Kelvyn Eglinton has been appointed to the Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) Board, commencing on 1 February 2026.
Kelvyn is the Chair of Surf Lifesaving New Zealand and the Chair of the New Zealand Surf Lifesaving Foundation and has been on the Board for nine years. After six years as CEO at Momentum Waikato Community Foundation and Project Director for the Waikato Regional Theatre development since 2023, he has worked as General Manager for Craig’s Investment Partners based in Hamilton leading the Waikato and Bay of Plenty teams.
Kelvyn has an extensive corporate background including holding executive roles in international mining across Asia Pacific and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, with an extensive governance career in various sectors. He brings to the PNZ Board extensive experience in stakeholder and Te Ao Māori engagement, and revenue generation, complementing wider PNZ Board backgrounds.
Kelvyn said of his appointment to the PNZ Board: “I believe in the power of engagement and purpose and that by working together – with an approach that takes risks and challenges conservative thinking – we can meet the challenges and build a better society for everyone. Material progress comes from a team whose personal values align with opportunity. This best occurs when people are mobilised by a belief that “things done differently can create change”, and that change lies in leadership with substance and an agency that will deliver action, not just strategies. I look forward to joining the Board, supporting the PNZ staff and our outstanding Para athletes, to ensure that PNZ is a vehicle that exceeds expectations.”
Meanwhile, the Board Appointment Panel (BAP) also recommended the re-election to the PNZ Board of current PNZ Board member, Sian Ruth, for a further four-year term. This recommendation has subsequently been supported and confirmed by PNZ Member organisations. The PNZ Board has also appointed Maria Clarke as the first Deputy Chair of the PNZ Board.
PNZ Board Chair Jana Rangooni said: “I am delighted in the appointment of Kelvyn to the Board and the re-election of Sian. Kelvyn brings new skills and experience that will be incredibly valuable around the PNZ Board table as we seek to build new and diverse revenue streams for the future and strengthen our relationships with all stakeholders.
“We are also pleased to announce that Maria Clarke was appointed Deputy Chair as part of our succession planning. I look forward to working with Kelvyn, Sian and Maria and the rest of the PNZ Board to ensure we oversee a successful 2026 and lay the foundations for what is needed to deliver the PNZ strategic direction through to 2033.”
