Virtus Global Games sees relay partnerships
Amidst incredible heat in Vichy, France, New Zealand Virtus athletes did not disappoint.
Alfie narrowly misses table tennis playoff
Alfie Linn has begun table tennis competition, narrowly missing out on singles medal playoff. He bowed out in mixed doubles. Competition continues tomorrow for a medal match in the men’s doubles. Alfie is also looking forward to teams competition.
Virtus swimmers make finals
Day 2 saw our swimmers compete in the 200m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke events.
Finn Russ made the II3 Men’s 200m Freestyle Final finishing in 8th place. Melissa Donoghue placed 7th in the II2 Women’s 200m Freestyle Final and Genevieve Watson placed 8th in the II3 Women’s 200m Final. Lance Dustow placed 8th in the II3 Men’s 50m Backstroke Final and Genevieve Watson placed 6th in the Women’s 50m Backstroke II3 Final.
Day 3 saw the 50m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly events.
Events started early with our swimmers up before 6am and ready for warm up by 7.30am. Lance Dustow placed 10th in the II3 Men’s 100m Butterfly, before continuing to the splash and dash 50m Freestyle event.
Genevieve Watson made the final of the II3 Women’s Freestyle, placing 8th.
Making friends and teammates across the globe
The USA Team asked Rylee Sayer to swim in the II3 Women’s 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay with them in an exhibition relay. Rylee gained valuable experience in a relay at an international event – as well as making new friends.
Lance Dustow, Finn Russ and Tate Pichon also teamed up with Daniel Wondaferew from the USA in the II3 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay. An awesome opportunity for these swimmers to gain experience in relay racing.
Both relay teams were exhibition teams, racing for experience.
