- 31 kiwi Paralympians, including 11 returning athletes and 20 debutants in the New Zealand Paralympic Team
- The New Zealand Paralympic Team included 17 male and 14 female Paralympians
- 6 Para sports competed in – Para swimming, Para cycling, Shooting Para sport, Para sailing, Para athletics, Para canoe
- 68 separate events contested across these 6 Para sports by Kiwi Paralympians
- 52% of all events contested saw Kiwi Paralympians deliver personal best times
- 57 finals were reached from amongst the 68 events contested by Kiwi Paralympians
- 3 world records were set by the New Zealand Paralympic Team, of the 196 set across the 6 Para sports Kiwis contested
- 11 Paralympic records were set by New Zealand
- 77% of the finals reached saw a New Zealander finish in the Top 8
- 94% of our Kiwi Paralympians made it to the Top 8 in at least one event
- 21 medals won by New Zealand – 9 GOLD, 5 SILVER and 7 BRONZE
- 12 individual Paralympians secured medals, and increase from 4 from London 2012
- 10th most successful Paralympian for Paralympian #166 Sophie Pascoe who became the most decorated New Zealand Paralympian ever during Rio 2016
- 9 gold medals secured, matching the previous highest gold medals won at the Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games
- 1st in the world for medals won per capita, successfully defending London 2012 title
- 13th in the world in the medal standings*, New Zealand’s best result ever
* By IPC convention, the medal standings are ordered by the number of gold medals which the Para athletes from a nation have won. The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If NPCs are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IPC country code. The same convention is used by the IOC.
