Sophie Pascoe takes gold for New Zealand in Tokyo

Paralympian Sophie Pascoe has won a gold medal, now her third medal and making it the trifecta at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. She takes the medal tally for the New Zealand Paralympic Team to 8 medals including 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

Pascoe won a gold medal in the Women’s 100m Freestyle S9 in a time of 1:02.37. She led at the 25m turn and took it away from there. It was a close finish with silver medallist Sarai Gascon (Spain) only 0.63 of a second behind, followed by Mariana Ribeiro (Brazil) taking bronze in 1:03.39.
