With excitement mounting for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) has launched part two of its well-received Paris 2024 education resource created to take young learners on a journey with the NZ Paralympic Team.

In partnership with Toyota New Zealand, the Paris unit, is available to all primary schools throughout New Zealand. Part of Seeing is Believing – The Paralympic Education Programme – the initiative has so far exceeded expectations with more than 250 schools across New Zealand showing their support of the programme by signing up to register.

Launched last year, the programme aims to change perceptions of disability through the lens of Paralympians, Para athletes and the Paralympic Movement.

The programme offers teachers access to a range of engaging, easy-to-implement learning resources ready to explore the Paralympic values, Paralympic Movement, and a variety of Para sports.

With the flame set to be lit at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday 29 August (NZT), part two of the resource was launched today.

It will include details of the NZ Paralympic Team, as well as fun activities for schools to engage in during the Games – like the NZ Paralympic Team’s medal tally.

Many schools up and down the country have already experienced Seeing is Believing with teachers and learners hugely impressed by the programme.

Paralympics New Zealand Education Lead Kasey Wilson said: “We have been staggered by the levels of engagement and interest in the programme by primary schools up and down the country. The response since its launch last year has been overwhelming, and we are very excited to introduce part two. I’m sure it will help engage and generate further interest, excitement and awareness for the Paralympic Games and the NZ Paralympic Team.”
