Joshua Willmer

Joshua Willmer is a Para swimmer from Ōtāhuhu, Auckland who was born in 2004. He represented New Zealand at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships where he finished 6th in the 100m Breaststroke SB8.

Soon after, Joshua headed to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. At Birmingham 2022 he won a gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke SB8 event, becoming an overnight star in New Zealand.

Joshua holds multiple age group and open National Records predominantly in his signature breaststroke events. He was a finalist for the Sky Sport Emerging Talent Award at the 2022 Halberg Awards.

In the 2023 World Para Swimming Championships, Joshua placed 6th in the 100m Breaststroke SB8, breaking New Zealand records as he did so.
