Lorraine Te Punga #56

Lorraine Te Punga, New Zealand Paralympian on skis

Lorraine represented New Zealand at the Innsbruck 1988 Paralympic Winter Games. The only female athlete in the NZ Paralympic Team she was part of an emerging new generation of Kiwi Para alpine skiers.

The Kiwi who was raised in Lower Hutt claimed three top ten finishes in Innsbruck led by a fifth-place finish in the Women’s Slalom LW2.

Her passion for sport has continued off the slopes as Lorraine worked for a period as a swim school manager. She now works as a part-time educational support worker.

Lorraine officially received her ‘numbered’ Paralympic pin as part of The Celebration Project in Tauranga in July 2019.
