Ken Raymond #37
Born and bred in Wanganui, Ken has been a paraplegic since 1973 after a motor vehicle accident. He has only competed seriously just 2 years before his Paralympic debut. Ken represented New Zealand at the Arnhem 1980 Paralympic Games in Holland. He competed in Para athletics and Para archery.
But it was not the first time that Ken represented his country. In 1970 he was a member of the able-bodied New Zealand darts team who competed in Australia.
Ken was very active in Para sport and tried many different disciplines. His favourites were darts, discus and shot put.
In 1989, Ken had another accident, a fall from his wheelchair, resulting in a severe tetraplegia. Ken has passed away in 2006.
