Bio
Based in the USA, Rory Mead was a Motocross champion and was competing in the sport he loved when he sustained a spinal cord injury in 2014.
Rory made his international debut in the New Zealand Para Cycling Team at the 2018 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships producing solid results against strong international competition. Riding a hand cycle, Rory finished 4th in the Men’s Time Trial H2, and 5th in the Men’s Road Race H2.
Making his Paralympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Rory achieved 5th place in both the Men’s H2 Time Trial and H1-2 Road Race.
After some time off for a shoulder injury, Rory made a strong return to Para cycling in 2023. In his first event back, the Huntsville World Cup, he claimed his first international podium finishes with a silver and a bronze medal. He followed this up with a 4th and a 5th place finish at the World Championships in Glasgow.
