LevelUp FAQs
How do I sign up for LevelUp?
Sport Tutor is an online learning platform run by Sport New Zealand. It is free, and easy to sign up. Sign up here.
How long will it take?
Modules take 10-20 minutes each.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for LevelUp.
Do I have to do all the modules?
The first 2 modules cover the fundamentals, you must complete these to unlock 7 additional impairment specific modules. You will gain a lot of knowledge and skills by completing every module, but you do have the option to direct your learning to the areas most relevant to you once you complete the first 2.
How does LevelUp work with coaching development materials from my sports organisation?
LevelUp complements sport-specific learning. Included in the course are terminology, classification and coaching considerations for the eligible Para sport impairments. Most national sports organisations (NSOs) encourage coaches to undertake this learning.
Will I gain a formal qualification?
Your completion of this course will be recorded in your Sport Tutor account and will be shared on request with your NSO. Some NSOs may include LevelUp modules in their required learning for a coaching qualification.
Is there a time limit?
LevelUp does not have a deadline. However, we recommend you complete a single module within a few weeks of starting it. This is an optimal way of retaining what you learn.
What are the prerequisites? Who is eligible?
LevelUp is a series of online modules for coaching disabled athletes no matter whether you are just starting out or want to grow your skills. It is suitable for coaching all levels and ages of athletes and teams.
Who created LevelUp?
Paralympics New Zealand designed the 9 modules with coaches, sports organisations and athletes. You’ll meet a few of our own NZ Para athletes in the course!
