Seeing is believing: Growing Paralympic Education in NZ

Seeing is Believing is our Paralympic Education Programme, in partnership with Toyota. Seeing is Believing changes perceptions of disability through the lens of Paralympians, Para athletes, and the Paralympic Movement.

Seeing is Believing includes the International Paralympic Committee’s I’mPOSSIBLE modules, along with additional resources created specifically for Kiwi tamariki, designed to spread the Paralympic values and vision of the Paralympic Movement to young people throughout the world.  It has been introduced in many countries and has now reached Aotearoa New Zealand. The resource is tailored to the NZ context and curriculum providing relevant, engaging learning opportunities for primary school students.

Seeing is Believing website

The I’mPOSSIBLE resource takes young learners on a journey where they will be challenged to take steps towards growing a more inclusive Aotearoa, beginning in their own school and community. Through the exploration of the Paralympic Movement and its values, learners will be challenged to change attitudes towards disabled people and begin to redefine their own possible.

Once schools engage with the programme, they can register for the opportunity to have one of our Harvey Norman Para Sport Champions come and visit to share their stories, inspiration and take part in hands-on learning.

Seeing really is believing.
