Para Sport Talent ID Camps

What is a Talent ID Camp?

Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) leads High Performance Training programmes and campaigns in the sports of Para cycling and Shooting Para sport. Part of PNZ’s role is to identify future high performance Para cyclists.

Every so often, PNZ invites aspiring Para athletes to attend a talent ID camp where they can experience Para cycling or Shooting Para sport and can find out if they’ve got what it takes to succeed in that Para sport.

There is no cost to attend a camp.

What happens at a talent ID camp?

Talent ID camps can involve a variety of things. For example, a Para cycling talent ID camp often includes:

  • A chance to connect with new and established Para cyclists
  • Meet and get to know the wider Para cycling support team
  • Coached ride with experienced Para cycling coaches
  • Skill sessions with experienced Para cycling coaches
  • Power profile testing
  • Presentations from athlete support providers (such as nutrition, sport psychology etc.)
  • The opportunity to receive a National Classification for Para cycling

When is the next talent ID camp?
