It was the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games that were a career highlight for Chris competing at the highest level in Para sailing. Chris has one leg amputated above the knee. New Zealand Para sailors were named 6 months before the Paralympic Games and included: Chris, Paralympian #42 Martin Clark, Paralympian #121 Phil Edwards, Paralympian #133 Garth Reynolds. Chris knew Martin from skiing but none of the crew had ever been in the water together, and none had sailed a Sonar boat. There were simply none in New Zealand. The team managed a four three-day sessions in New Zealand, and one five-day trip to Sydney after the charter of the Sonar was arranged, before arriving for the Games.
