Geremy broke his neck in an under-19 club rugby match in Christchurch. During his rehab at the Burwood Spinal Unit he got a visit that would introduce him to the next stage of his sporting life: Wheelchair rugby. Geremy was part of the same Wheel Blacks teams as Sholto attending the same 4 Paralympic Games in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. Geremy was part of the historical success of the team in Athens 2004 when they won a Paralympic gold medal against Canada. During this game he played one of the best games of his long career, pulling off two crucial turnovers that kept New Zealand in front.
Geremy’s mother Cathy, officially received his ‘numbered’ Paralympic pin on his behalf at the ParaFed Canterbury Sports Awards in Christchurch in November 2021.
