Justin has cerebral palsy and was a member of the highly successful Wheel Blacks Wheelchair rugby team winning bronze at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. Justin was wearing the jersey number 5 at each game.
Two years prior to that achievement Justin also represented New Zealand with the Wheel Blacks at the 1998 Wheelchair Rugby World Championships. The team won the silver medal.
Justin has a 25-year career working in disabled sport. He is currently the Disability Consultant for Sport New Zealand. He has previously worked as a Halberg Foundation Senior Adviser, for Sport Canterbury, Sport Tasman and ParaFed Canterbury. He developed a system for physically disabled students to achieve in physical education NCEA for the Ministry of Education and created pathways for disabled athletes in secondary school sports championships.
Justin received his ‘numbered’ Paralympic pin as part of The Celebration Project in Wellington in November 2020.
