Maurice Toon #155

Morice Toon, New Zealand Paralympian playing Boccia game

Maurice competed at two Paralympic Games in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 in the Para sport of Boccia. He was a part of the team of four who won the New Zealand’s only ever Paralympic medal in Boccia, after beating world champions Spain. The Boccia team of 4 who won the silver medal was also composed of Paralympian #123 Ross Flood, Paralympian #149 Jeremy Morriss and Paralympian #152 Liam Sanders. It was hard work and belief in each other which was the secret to the team’s great success.

Maurice has since continued to participate in Boccia at a national level. He recently represented his home region Waikato in the 2018 NZ National Boccia Championships where he won gold in the BC1,2,4 Team’s and Individual BC2,4.
