What is the Cycling World Championships and why is it a ‘Super Worlds’?

The 2023 Cycling World Championships take place in Glasgow, Scotland from this Thursday 3 August through to Sunday 13 August (with a few events falling in the early hours of Monday 14th August if you’re on New Zealand time).

For the first time, these ‘Super Worlds’ bring together what was previously 13 different World Championships into one event. For New Zealand, it means Para cyclists and non-disabled cyclists are competing in the same city, over the same period.

Glasgow 2023 is also the final World Championships before the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games (Aug-Sep 2024). The 9-strong Para Cycling Team will be looking to deliver their best and secure slots for New Zealand at the Paralympics.
