Visually impaired Para alpine skier, Joanne Duffy made her Paralympic debut at the Lillehammer 1994 Paralympic Winter Games as the only female Para athlete to feature as part of the NZ Paralympic Team in Norway.

The New Zealand team was very successful, bringing home a total of six medals with Joanne impressing, alongside her guide James Ross, to strike gold in the Women’s Downhill B1-2, finishing more than nine seconds clear of her nearest rival.

The pair also won Bronze in the Women’s Super-G B1-2 and claimed a fifth-place finish in the Women’s Giant Slalom B1-2
